On Sunday, I hopped down the valley to visit the annual Victorian Christmas exhibit at the O'Dell House Museum in Annapolis Royal. I don't think I've ever seen a room with so much stuff.
This is an annual holiday tradition at the museum that features several rooms decked out in classic Victorian style, complimented by re-enactors in period dress.
It presented a good opportunity to practice some things I'm not particularly accustomed to: interior shots, long exposures, even tripod shooting — many of you know my irrational and impatient hatred for tripods. Anyway, I don't think I learned anything new per se, but it was definitely a very good opportunity to practice. I got a little preoccupied with trying to secure the technical elements of the shot, between the tripod, focus, remote shutter release, shutter speed, etc., and in the process some of my compositions ended up being a bit weak. I'll be posting some more over the next few days - let me know what you think.
Thanks to rgsheritage for the invite and the hospitality.

Rumour has it that this is where the museum's curator stores the pistol he used to shoot JFK.*
I think I got that right. I must confess that I'm not a big local history buff.

No time to dig into archives, so another quickie from the phone to keep the flow. The original colour was a purple-ish blue, but I warmed up the while image so much, it took this Barbie hue :)

OK, it might not be the sea, but it's SeaWorld, Orlando. They had some beautiful Christmas decorations all over the park. The most memorable place was the polar bear exhibit. For Christmas, they have "The Polar Express" movie theme which was fabulous! You have the feeling you've traveled to the North Pole. And who can you find at the North Pole besides the polar bears? Santa Claus himself! He was there waiting for the kids. What an amazing moment!

We stopped by this new-ish bar on South Terrace after the sustainability fiesta. I suppose it's an interesting space but I hate the name.

The interior of the bar has the sort of bare, industrial look that's popular in Little Creatures but I can't really tell if it's quite finished or not. I think I would like it if they added a bit more green wall or something.

New York City mid-afternoon I was walking by a downtown Church - this homeless man was stretched out, barefoot, a shopping trolley with all his worldly goods parked beside him. The desperate poverty outside such a grandiose structure - ornate doors and stone columns. The Church doors shut. But then I suppose, at least there was a resting spot for him there.
It was shot in medium format on tungsten balance film outside, which I was fond of shooting at the time. Thus the cold blue hue to the image.
