The Envy Nightlife Club, which is part of the Route 66 Casino located in Albuquerque, NM, was designed and manufactured by I-5 Design and Manufacture. The chain curtain, which is suspended over the bar, is illuminated from above with color-changing LED’s and also has an integrated design pattern in the chain itself. The soffit is lit with indirect cove lighting that produces a beautiful, soft glow, and is also fully programmable. To view more casino design, click here.

This fifteenth century well-dressed gentleman- from Spain, Italy, or Burgundy, judging from his clothing- Thank you Professor of Costume History back at U of M- is ready for the hunt along with his falcon and his horse. However, he's bewildered to find himself behind glass in the ultra-touristy gift shop at Hearst Castle. This is pretty much exemplary of how we treat fine art in the United States- put it behind glass for safekeeping and restoration, and then buy the t-shirt that proves we were there. Funny thing is, in a room full of people, I was the only one that seemed to notice that there WAS an art restoration exhibit behind the magnets, mugs, christmas ornaments, and sweatshirts.
I am sure the creator of this statue had no idea it would end up in a tourist trap gift shop when he carved it.
Anyway, I love the fact the reflection made it look double-exposed.
I did a "double-take" when I saw this art here, and so, that's fitting.

Here I am doing my reflections in the water thing again- this time it's the ornate lampost of William Randolph Hearst's extravagant indoor swimming pool at Hearst Castle, a.k.a.. "The Enchanted Hill" The mirror image came out so clearly because, of course, no one is allowed to swim in this pool.

No, you're not in a private apartment in a palacio in Spain- you're in a hallway in Hearst Castle. I wish I had the money to make my renaissance-art fantasy include the real art. . . The farthest I can go with the palazzo look in my own house is the Italian plasters on the bedroom wall. But, mostly, in this particular place, I looked the serene meditative feel of the statue and the light coming in from the round window. How peaceful. How lovely. How nice it would have been to be a guest or live here.

Eggshells make great miniature planters, and they transfer easily to outdoor gardens when the plants inside have grown large enough.
When once sprouted, can place the eggshell in a small hole in outdoors, gently applying pressure to the shell with your fingers until it breaks apart in several places. When each shell is crushed, fill in the rest of the hole with a thin layer of soil.
Eggshells will release lime into your garden's soil, which is a beneficial nutrient for most plants.

Things are coming together in the new flat. Our container shipment should arrive by early next week. It's on a truck from the port right at this moment. Until then, it's fun to make more out of less and try strange new things with old decor.

I'm pretty sure the desert was for sale to somebody. The sellers just didn't advertise in non-trade publications.

Napoleon's tomb was installed in a building that was built by J. Hardouin Mansart from 1679 and completed in 1706. The arch, the dome forms a royal crown to the building.
It is the most beautiful dome ever built in France, including the adjourned lantern rising to 107 m and was re-gilded in 1989 to mark the bicentenary of the Revolution. Twenty five pounds were necessary for this operation. Here are some views of the ceiling decoration...frescoes.
