Walking around the centre of Dublin and close to Temple Bar, what is now a Spar (every supermarket in the centre seemed to be a Spar!) has a more chequered history in its former life.
The old stone decor complete with signage indicates that this building was a former branch of Burton, the men's clothing shop. Back then it was more to do with tailoring and having clothes to fit you perfectly, hence "the tailor of taste" slogan that appears underneath.
The "monatgue" that appears to the left was because the company was founded by Montague Burton in 1903. A similar sign to this one is also present in their former headquarters in Leeds, which is now used as a warehouse.

I've been following @ameliesbakery on Twitter for a few weeks now, and I decided to pop in and see what all the fuss was about. I selected a Chocolate Mousse Tart with Raspberry filling in the middle and a cup of coffee (80% decaf). I must say that the tart was quite delicious and the coffee was surprisingly good as well (not burnt or bitter). The chocolate mousse was dense and filling. I loved the ambiance and overall atmosphere of the joint. There was also plenty of parking, which is rare in NoDa. Overall great experience!
Prelude to a Project: So, @ljphoto and I are going to start a project soon visiting different neighborhoods around Charlotte. This is not my official NoDa entry for this project, but it definitely whet my appetite for discovering new places in town.

It's decorated in a really garish colour, has people singing along rather poorly to loud music, and has plenty of national flags outside to welcome all visitors to the bar.
Some like it, some loathe it - I'll leave that to you to decide.

So we were trying to decide what to do today, when I read a blog post by mrs. french mentioning the Sunset Celebration Weekend going on. I went a few years ago when they had the Glide House on display, and thought it would be fun to see the modern cottage being shown this year. So without reading any further into her post, we hopped in the car and drove down the Menlo Park.
When we got back home, I finally read the rest of mrs. french’s good news and learned that her photo was one of the art pieces on the wall of the cottage. Doh! I should have read the whole thing earlier, so I could have taken a better photo when we were there. But at least I got this one!
P.S. I can’t see Michael and I living in one of those cottages — we’d need at least one for each of us! — but it sure is a cute and smart little abode.
