I'm posting this ornament today in honor of the Steelers vs. Patriots game that is about to start any minute now. Let's gooooo Steelers! I loathe the Patriots and everything about them... 'cept maybe Mike Vrabel. ;o) In my mind, Tom Brady, Randy Moss and Bill Belichick are the epitome of evil... the trifecta.
Now, about the ornament... this is from 1996. That was about the time I began to really, really pay attention to football again. I lost the interest for a few of my "girlie years" while I was in my early to mid-teens.

This was my ornament from 1999. I love the Steelers... always have, always will... no matter where I live I will always bleed black and gold. (With a little blue mixed in for my Mountaineers!)

It was a good call to go buy a pre-lit tree... made my life so much easier. This is the finished product... I think. If I feel like it tomorrow, I may try to add either beads or ribbon (or both). And if not, I'm happy with it this way. :o)

I have a very eclectic mix of ornaments that I have collected over the years... most of them being gifts from my parents or friends. My parents bought me a new Christmas ornament every year. We started off putting them on the tree in the living room at home but as I got older, I was allowed to have a tree in my room... which I decorated myself with those ornaments (and any leftovers from the family tree)! It is a wonderful tradition that still continues today.
Because of that tradition, most of my ornaments have a story... but I'm not sure of the story behind this little guy. This one is more recent and I believe a gift from a friend. At any rate, he's glittery and happy looking and it makes me smile. :o)

I tore out all my Christmas decorations today with the intention of putting up the tree in my bedroom. My own Christmas tree is back home at my parents' place in PA so I've been using my roommate's old tree. It was giving me fits today and I was beginning to have a panic attack because the lights wouldn't do what I wanted them to. I decided to tear the tree down and take photos of ornaments and decorations instead. I'm going to Target tonight to get a pre-lit tree. I can't deal with stringing lights anymore. I'm far too A.R. for that.

I was given two, quite naive, acrylic portraits of women. I know nothing about them. They are the same size and may be the same artist. I wonder which was made first. Did the painter learn to paint more "by the rules" with time or did the painter decide to ditch the rules. I'm sure MII bought them at the Sally Ann. I like them, but I don't worry about them. So they are a great way to get original art into the bathroom.
